The Waggener "Old Athletes Group" met at Mission Barbecue in St Matthews on March 3 with Jamie Dumstorf and gave the group an update on the past winter and upcoming spring Wildcat sports scene.  The gray hairs peppered him with questions and left feeling excited about what the players and coaches are accomplishing.  Commitment was a theme that emerged in all areas of the briefing.  Following coach's talk the guys retold some past ballgame heroics that probably warranted a little fact checking.  But really, how correct does a person need to be?

Jamie Dumstorf, athletic director, briefing the group about the WHS sports programs.

The Class of 1960 will celebrate its 60th Reunion on Saturday October 3, 2020 at Owl Creek Country Club. If you are a classmate or know of any 1960 graduates, please sign up and/or encourage them to sign up on the WHS Alumni website, 1960 Profiles, to get updated information leading up to the reunion. We lack current information on 60% of our 320 classmates. Any detective work you can do to help more of the old gang participate in the upcoming festivities will undoubtedly be appreciated by those lost sheep (or maybe wildcats) that are found.

The Wildcat Food Den is an in school food pantry serving every student in the school.

75% or more of our students qualify for free breakfast and lunch.  Many students don't have enough food at home or maybe none at all.   The Alumni Association supports, funds, and runs the Wildcat Food Den right in the school.  This is a room filled with shelf stable items, frozen meals, fresh produce, juice, milk, and personal care items. We are open 1:45-2:45 every Tuesday and Friday.  The students can come in to grocery shop, FOR FREE, and take food home for themselves and their families.  In December we served 520 children, 102 adults, 15 senior citizens, and distributed more than 1,500 pounds of food.

Dare to Care provides fresh produce on a weekly basis.  Plehn's bakery donates a generous amount of their beautiful breads, rolls, and buns.  The Alumni and our generous members of the community have donated and supported our efforts.

Healthy, well fed, students are better equipped to learn, to thrive, to be kind, and to be happy.  Feed the kids, better the community.
